This was way too hard. I anticipate keyboards being flipped. Naturally, I did not revisit every single one of these games. Some games I have played (relatively) recently, so they're fresh(er) in my mind, but I'm mostly going off my memory on how much I enjoyed them. And I ain't giving no fucks about how iconic some games are (Excitebike, Ghosts n Goblins). NES 1) Super Mario Bros. 3 2) Super Mario Bros. 3) The Legend of Zelda 4) Bionic Commando 5) Mega Man 2 6) Castlevania 7) Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!! 8) Metroid 9) Blaster Master 10) Contra 11) Tetris 12) RC Pro-Am 13) Faxanadu 14) Double Dragon II: The Revenge 15) Castlevania II: Simon's Quest 16) Metal Storm 17) Crystalis 18) Mega Man 3 19) Ninja Gaiden 20) Goonies II 21) Super C 22) Super Mario Bros. 2 23) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game 24) Life Force 25) Double Dragon 26) Gyruss 27) River City Ransom 28) Ducktales 29) Rygar 30) Solomon's Key 31) Mega Man 4 32) Karnov 33) Legendary Wings 34) Snake Rattle n Roll 35) Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom 36) Gauntlet (Tengen) 37) Mega Man 38) Shadowgate 39) Stinger 40) Willow 41) Zelda II: The Adventure of Link 42) Kid Icarus 43) Metal Gear 44) Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos 45) Batman 46) Demon Sword 47) Marble Madness 48) Strider 49) Commando 50) Dragon Warrior 2 51) Ironsword: Wizards and Warriors II 52) Section Z 53) Lemmings 54) Dr. Mario 55) 1943 56) Kid Niki: Radical Ninja 57) Rush n Attack 58) North & South 59) Battletoads 60) A Boy and His Blob 61) Ghosts n Goblins 62) Maniac Mansion 63) Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse 64) Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones 65) Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers 66) Battle of Olympus 67) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 68) Excitebike 69) Heavy Barrel 70) Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 71) Adventure Island 2 72) Clash at Demonhead 73) Adventure Island 74) Astyanax 75) Dragon Warrior 76) Who Framed Roger Rabbit? 77) Sky Kid 78) Uninvited 79) The Magic of Scheherazade 80) Wizard & Warriors 81) Fester's Quest 82) Final Fantasy 83) Golf 84) Kung-Fu 85) Mickey Mousecapade 86) Bump n Jump 87) Bad Dudes 88) MC Kids 89) Paperboy 90) Ice Hockey 91) Milon's Secret Castle 92) Wrath of the Black Manta 93) Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road 94) NES Play Action Football 95) 8 Eyes 96) Double Dribble 97) RBI Baseball 98) Popeye 99) Elevator Action 100) Mario Bros. 101) Gyromite 102) Spy Hunter 103) Trojan 104) Rad Racer 105) Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 106) Adventures in the Magic Kingdom 107) Rampage 108) Town & Country Surf Designs: Wood & Water Rage 109) Duck Hunt 110) Operation Wolf 111) Tecmo World Wrestling 112) Spy vs Spy 113) The Adventures of Bayou Billy 114) Golgo 13 115) The Simpsons: Bart vs The Space Mutants 116) Deadly Towers 117) Ikari Warriors 118) The Karate Kid 119) Rambo 120) Burger Time 121) Pro Wrestling 122) Skate or Die! 123) Top Gun 124) Ring King 125) Renegade 126) Family Feud 127) Wheel of Fortune 128) 10-Yard Fight 129) Track & Field 130) The Adventures of Gilligan's Island 131) Friday the 13th 132) Jaws 133) Ghostbusters 134) Fist of the North Star I LIED!!! Bubble Bobble Choplifter Cobra Triangle Gradius Ice Climber The Immortal NOTES -I am preemptively going to defend my placement of Castlevania III. I don't understand why it's so widely praised. I owned it as a kid (even bought it with my OWN allowance) and didn't care for it much then, and replayed it as an adult and disliked it for the same reasons.

Everyone praises the "variety." You get 3 extra characters, and two of them (Grant, Alucard) suck. Sypha is situationally useful on bosses and for her freeze spell, but Trevor is far and away the best character.

The branching paths are crap. The first branch leads to the clock tower, which is a dead end that leads to Grant. Fucking useless! The second branch is to either Sypha or Alucard. Alucard also sucks, and his level sequence is the worst in the entire game and contains arguably the worst level in any Castlevania and arguably one of the worst levels of all time. At least skip to 3:10 and see the bullshit you have to sit through. That whole level is incredibly difficult, so imagine trying to play through it 10 times in a row while that god awful soundtrack is on a loop

The inner castle levels are brutally difficult, far beyond the original Castlevania

The doppleganger boss is so difficult and lopsided that the accepted method to beat it is to use an exploit

The levels in general are kind of boring

It does, however, contain one of the greatest opening tracks of all time.

It's just not that great a game. -Everyone shits on Simon's Quest because the translation made it impossible to know what to do in some cases (red and blue crystals), but I always liked it and must have played through it 20 times. -Final Fantasy is terrible, I don't care if it started a legendary series.
