This is my thread for scoring infraction points on a forum you complain about. Hey look, I got another one! Scott C Jones shares how video games saved his life In the movie The Haunting, Richard Johnson's parapsychologist character says "I know the supernatural isn't something that is supposed to happen, but it does happen." Replace the supernatural with child molestation and that's just as true in the real world. I don't see why it would be any more inappropriate for Scott to bust the metaphorical ghosts of his sexual trauma by taping an episode of Reviews on the Run from the abandoned RV where it took place than it was for him to spring it on me midway through an ode to Pac-Man in the Globe and Mail. I thought I was doing pretty well not to ask if he should've recused himself from reviewing all the various Pac-Man sequels and rereleases over the years, after the original Pac-Man helped him survive being molested. And if he committed an ethical breach by reviewing them anyway, what sort of punishment would be appropriate? Bearing in mind he already was molested. Also, I noticed one of the related stories on the Globe and Mail website was called "How video gaming is helping boys land better careers – and hurting girls", which made me wonder how many girls had to suffer for Scott to feel better, and whether penning a pro-games editorial qualifies as perpetuating the cycle of abuse?
