Your whole point of view disingenuously assumes that the potential for breakthrough cases translates into a 100% guarantee, so there's no practical difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated populations. A statistical possibility automatically means we're all gonna get it in the end. You remind me of a fundie I had the misfortune of arguing with eons ago about contraceptive use (medications, condoms, etc). No contraceptive was 100% effective, so their use was pointless and recklessly irresponsible. Unplanned pregnancy was a foregone conclusion. It had to happen, it was only a matter of time. What he didn't get was that the <100% effectiveness wasn't per use and equally likely across the population. They just failed some people for different reasons, so 100% effectiveness became mathematically impossible. And <100% vaccine effectiveness isn't per exposure to the virus and equally likely for everyone, it fails different people for different reasons. So, no, we're not all guaranteed to get it in the end, whether it's COVID or a pregnancy I'm not paying for. The stubbornly unvaccinated are huge population bombs (the 6% of children under 5 are not) that continue to be ripe hosts for infection and re-infection, keeping the virus in circulation, and providing ample opportunity for vaccine-resistant mutation.
