Re: I just want to add (angry rant)

Based on what I've seen and what I've read, I'm convinced that R > 1 even for people with the vaccine. I think the technocrats in charge have mismanaged everything. They've taken kids out of school for years, denied medical procedures to people, and forced people to become shut ins, all to achieve a goal that was never possible: getting rid of COVID completely. Now that their failure is becoming clear to everyone, they need a scapegoat. Enter anti-vaxxers.
This, to me, is a classic R tactic: complain that everything is shitty, then SHIT ON EVERYTHING and point to how they were right all along! In this case, DON'T get vaccinated, DON'T wear masks or practice social distancing, the virus rages among the unvaccinated population and mutates into something that the vaccines are less effective against: AHA! NOTHING CAN STOP THE PANDEMIC, JUST LIKE I SAID. (By the way, Moderna and Pfizer are coming out with new Omicron vaccines.) In the mean time many people now believe that it's their god given right to not get vaccinated. FREEDOM means senseless suffering and death. It even means not having a democracy anymore. WOO FREEDOM.
Nobody here is arguing that you shouldn't get vaccinated. The argument is that the shutdowns and lockdowns were useless, and that we're all going to get COVID anyway. I'm glad that they're testing Omicron vaccines. I'm glad they come out with a flu shot every year, too. But does that mean we're on the cusp of eliminating the flu forever? Look, you don't have to believe me. You don't have to listen to anything I'm saying. But look around you. Do you think that the current policies have been a great success? Do you think that 12 more months of lockdown will "flatten the curve"? Do you think masks and vaccines have prevented everyone from getting COVID? Do you think they'll prevent you from getting it at some point?
