Hang tight![/quote] As a public school teacher who's worked along the west coast for over 20 years, I've worked with FAR more kids than you and I know them and the varied situations they live with FAR better. I've met students and parents like you describe and had to sit while they cussed me out or wished death on me similar to your good friends in our discussions here. There are measures in place for what you describe; none of it justifies making the default setting at schools (or any state entity), "Assume the parents are shit and work from there," but it's perfectly in line with your push to make all children wards of the state. <b><u>And, the only point relevant to this entire discussion: it is NOT developmentally appropriate to expose 5-8 year olds to this content.</u></b> We're talking K-3 here--not high school, not even 6th graders--but you're all too happy running social experiments on them because <i>you're not their parent.</i> Since you're a lawyer, though, you'll be able to give us all sorts of insight into all the lawsuits coming our way in about a decade when these kids hit their majority and realize how badly the policies you dress up as equity and social justice have crippled them.
