Re: I predicted that the War on Covid would be lost about a year ago.

Here's the post from last August Here is the conclusion if you are too busy to click a link
The hysteria will last as long as people want it to last, and then we'll go back to normal. And every year, a few extra 80 year olds and morbidly obese and/or immunocompromised people will die, that's all. The guys who funded the creation of the virus will die eventually, probably of old age. Just like the other idiots in Washington who funded 20 years of war in Afghanistan.
So has my "confidence in [my] positions... been shaken one iota" by the CDC dropping quarantine and distancing recommendations For COVID-19. Hmm. What do you think?
Your beliefs that the "hysteria" was manufactured and that the media is a malevolent force that plots what to lie to the public about next are what make you a fucking jackass.
Look, we can agree that: 1. the authorities gave guidance to people (CDC + Fauci, WHO, etc.) 2. journalists repeated that guidance and also made an active push to suppress alternate points of view (misinformation) 3. the guidance turned out to be wrong This is not some crazy conspiracy theory. We both lived through it. We can maybe have a philosophical argument about whether #2 would have been justified if the guidance was correct But the general outline of what happened is not up for debate
Oh no wait, your arguments about books and movies you have zero recollection of, assuming you read or saw them at all -- that makes you a fucking jackass too.
So let's get one thing out of the way. I will never feel bad about getting something wrong in my review of a capeshit movie. I treat those movies with exactly as much respect as they deserve. However, I do feel a little bit bad about messing up my review of Sherlock Holmes. Arthur Conan Doyle was a goofy guy (a Spiritualist, even) but he deserved better than that.
