Re: There were plenty of businesses unable to function for more than a year

Oh please. I didn't remember one more injustice among a thousand during that year. And your horseshit about a broad brush and "my tribe" . . . we are NOT the same. The disinformation industry is overwhelmingly right wing. It's not even close.
There's what I was talking about. We're fundamentally different, right? You believe that with all your heart. Evangelicals wish they had that sort of blind faith. You know we're fundamentally different. You've been told this since pre-Bu$Hitler, and the same sources are still telling you that. That's the left (still) carrying antebellum emotional luggage. Until you can acknowledge that WE'RE ALL THE SAME, this is going to continue to vex and confuse.
Who are the people who STILL support the absolutely corrupt thug of an ex-president? That's your "tribe". Or is it?
There are literally a thousand reasons to dislike Trump, but the left didn't think that was enough and felt compelled to fabricate a few million more. That rallied a lot of people to his banner. But--to your point--trying to break the tribal paradigm is something you've vilified in the past. Tea Partiers, for example, were literally worse than Hitler, remember? Maybe you don't; you've already forgotten a LOT--more than ONE injustice, for the record--about the Covid year, and that was much more recent. As far as who continues to keep Trump in the news cycle, have you considered...diversifying your news sources? Lots of actual conservatives really dislike him (and you don't have to scour the Net for Alex Jones wannabes to find them), but the "DeSantis is LITERALLY WORSE THAN TRUMP (WHO--LET US REMIND YOU--IS WORSE THAN HITLER)" headlines have been running for a few months now. A lot of people on your side really want Trump as the oppo candidate, have you noticed? Kinda like they did in 2016 (oops!). If it's reduced to a choice between a repulsive narcissist who still cares enough about his own image to listen to the people and a dementia-riddled invalid who works 1 day in 10 and signs whatever his handlers put in front of him without understanding it (or a clock cuckoolander who sounds like she memorized English and human mannerisms from a focus group), who do you think your opposition is going to vote for? Especially considering the most recent admin's job-related struggles?
If you'll recall, I also said, "not all conservatives" in my reply to Blackwater below. Those are the people, the conservatives who don't support or may stop supporting Trump, that this thread was (at least in part) about.
Okay, in the interest of bipartisan reconciliation, I'll take you at your word. What do you think we should do together to make sure that Trump isn't re-elected (while ALSO making sure we don't replace him with another Biden/Harris, or a Bush/Cheney)? An actual, GOOD, candidate would be a start. Can we find someone who trusts science more than whoever your (and my) media props up as an "expert?" Or do we all still need our religion surrogates (which seems to be the case)? Let the Change start here!
