Re: What he should have said / what he said

What he should have said. "We are hiring 20,000 QA immediately." What he said. "Integrating AI where it’s most meaningful, with craft and focus."
No idea what the head count required to get good testing coverage on Windows of all things would be. They definitely won't be hiring any QA (pretty sure they deleted that job title from the org chart). I do get a nauseous reaction to seeing management ever pay lip service to quality. Oh, like the quality teams you cut outside of anything not under Xbox? If any of those guys are even still around it would only be handful of subcontractors. They like to say a nebulous "Everybody" is responsible for quality which means ultimately nobody is responsible. It's a full time job that the corporation decided they didn't need over a decade ago. Management doesn't like to hold back releases because of bugs, and (bad) programmers don't like hearing that they created new bugs. AI-wise, well, didn't this whole mess accelerate because of AI generated code? I suppose given enough time the neural net could make some sense of it? Ultimately the friction remains of running tests except now it's being offloaded to a tool that isn't prepared to do it (yet) without anybody to train/guide the AI how to test everything. Rough scene for them, but they created the problem!
