In an age of jump-cuts and shaky-cam, here is a director who will just slow down a bit and let us take in the fucking scene, when appropriate. If there's anything I would have changed, it might have been to cut the subplot about Mary's mother. It wasn't bad, per se, but it didn't feel necessary to the story. The part about her being a therapist was excellent, though. A therapist trying to make sense of an insane world. The ending was obvious sequel-bait, but it also felt entirely appropriate. This is the backrooms. Nothing is ending. Nothing CAN have an end. It's not going to be OK.[/quote]
