Re: Warhammer: Dawn of War demo out

The problem I had with it is that they changed the rules every single month. I gather they did this with all of their games. Maybe it was their way to keep you buying their magazines. I dunno. But it was utterly impossible to ever know what the most up-to-date rules were for any given situation. So obviously, nobody gave a shit after a while.
Yup. They do that constantly with all the Warhammer games. The fantasy one went through two major versions in like 15 months. Despite the fact they change the rules so often in the form of a new $50 rule book every few months, there will still be broken rules that will be revised in the upcoming issues of White Dwarf magazine which you must subscrube to until they throw all those out the door and come out with the next $50 version. All their other games that aren't Warhammer fantasy or 40k end up dying off less than a year after they come out because it takes them 20 years to refine a system into anything at all playable, so all the new games end up with incredibly stupid, broken, or boring rules. There was Epic, as you mentioned, then does anyone remember Necromunda, Warmaster, Gorka Morka (actually not that bad if you remove the heavy shooter weapon), Battlefleet Gothic, Space Hulk, that squad level one whose name I can't remember that was like Necromunda only it had a fantasy setting, and that one about planes bombing a bridge? All dead and forgotten.
