Is there a way to assign names to table cells so that I can send data to particular cells, or is your preferred method just to rewrite the page and have a separate html file for every possible state of the entire site? That seems excessive... why the hostility towards frames?
Up until recently all W3C standards (the people who define the web) have been required to be patent-free, AFAIK. Some searching on Slashdot will give you the whole bloody story to change this recently - but it certainly does mean every and any standard that existed up until, say, June 2003 or so is free for use by anyone and for everyone except Amazon's one-click shopping. --SB
<a href="http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/28985.html">SBC patents frames</a>. Frames are bad becuase they look chinsy, every browser handles them a little different, they usually break the back button, and don't index correctly. And supposedly future browsers won't even support them. Just figure out how to use include files for whatever server you are using to add the standard header/footer to every one of your pages.
