Re: Ape Escape 2

If you own it, disregard and resume enjoying the hell out of it, otherwise CHECK THAT SHIT OUT. It's good goofy fun, and I haven't even unlocked the party games yet. If you hate platformers or cutesy animation, then you *might* not enjoy it. I don't mind either of those, so it's pretty much made me forget all about Mario Whatever and Rachet And Clank and so forth.
Now that sounds like a recommendation I can go for. I really like good platformers, like Ratchet, Sly Cooper, and Jak & Daxter. Hell, I even beat Vexx back when I was xbox-xclusive. Right now I am slogging through Klonoa 2, which for all its Jappy-cutesiness is a completely great platformer. It renounces 3d gameplay without losing 3d graphics (sounds fucked up, but it works), and it is really, really fun. Pretty challenging, for a game I imagine is targeted at a young demographic. Sure, your testosterone will likely dip after collecting all the little dolls in this game, but I think it has far more lasting appeal than the other 4 I mentioned. Sly Cooper had a lot of potential in the first three (relatively) big levels, but the last two were a total wash, and the whole game is just too damned easy and short. What kind of a platformer lets you earn an ability to be immune to falling into pits? I liked R&C a lot at first, but the whole earning money thing before you can get the badass guns is beating me down. I feel like I can never escape the FF motif of character building sometimes. J&D is too much like it for me to take seriously, alas. Good thing it was 6$.
