Re: PS2 games

Fatal Frame had shitty play control? Sounds like you dont like survival horror games period. The Resident Evil control scheme, while being pretty lame, is pretty much the standard for the genre, Silent Hill included. It's also not like the ghosts kill you by just getting the drop on you, they're freaky and not pushovers, but they certainly dont surprise you with their entrances.
I liked Code Veronica a lot on my Dreamcast, although I never got around to beating it thanks to RE's dumbass limited resource mindgames. That style of play control is a problem for me. I thought DMC woudl be the solution to it, but the fights were just too repetitive. I can completely understand people that love it, but for me it was a lot like one of your criticisms of MGS2, which was that there are a lot of cool things you CAN do in combat, but you would have to be really bored to bother with them after the first one or two times. By the way, MGS1 should be here soon. I look forward to it.
Yeah, not exactly unlimited replay. Btw, last week I got to the 3 man fight for the first time and beat it the first try. I had curst's advice to follow, but still, didnt seem that difficult. Very unfun though.
Well, for me it totally went counter to the highly aggressive pattern I had adopted throughout. So, rather than face it like a man and run like a girl, I got pissed and turned the damn thing off. Now, having KO'd the skinny bitch 3 times and accidentally the big dude once, I have the drill down, but it is time consuming and fundamentally fucked.
Drains you of energy? Sounds like you don't like games period. I dunno.
Maybe. Yet I continue to slog my way through FF9, a few hours at a time. I am pretty sure I am headed for a "oh shit I accidentally killed yevon" moment at the end, but as usual I am more interested in beating the secret super fruity boss than the actual game. What the fuck is wrong with me?
