early review!
Funny? So far I haven't run into any laughable moments (although I haven't run into any of the LOL things TAFKAM mentioned), although the atmosphere is enjoyable. I don't laugh at it so much as I appreciate it. It's definately no Disgaea. I'd say it comes in a little behind Beyond Good & Evil for quirky silent chuckle inducing moments. Though giving nearly every character a mismatched eyeball o_O face is amusing. Sort of reminds me of Beyond Good & Evil in that a large portion is wandering around a non-linear area collecting shit at your leisure and you can delve into the main "dungeons" whenever. Somebody on the design team really liked Prince of Persia, because every single platform element from that except wall running (replaced by rail riding, on rails!) is here. Overall it feels like BG&E meets Prince of Persia meets Psi-Ops...where you don't really use your psi-powers that much? I've never really found much of a use for them, except when the game requires you to do so. I've just been sticking to double jumping (200 arrowheads just to change your jump ball's color!!!) and smacking things with my giant psi-hand. Great graphics considering the hardware. It all feels extremely solid and well polished. And yes, boy howdie does it start off slowly. The opening cutscene could have been cut in half. I'm 5 hours into the game and it still feels like I'm playing nothing but tutorial levels.
