The pictures are great, particularly the chickens and lizards and CHE!!@1!! but I'm uncertain why anyone would want to go there for a vacation.
Well, it's interesting. Most places on Earth look crappy to us first-worlders, but people still travel.
Huh? This is your explanation of why you went to Cuba? Because it's on Earth and it looks crappy. Oh yes, I see.
Welcome back, laudablepuss! I was wondering how you got smarter when you shut up Clatorps and Strymeriosa, but I see the transformation is not complete. Watch more Bobcat. By saying that "Most places on Earth look crappy to us first-worlders, but people still travel", I'm pointing out that if people only traveled to see places better off than their homes, Americans would go where? Australia? Almost everywhere is crappy. Some people travel just to see new stuff.
Yes, but how'd you arrive at Cuba for your vacation beach-fix? It's a fossilized cold war police state.
Well see, I went for the fossilized cold war police state, not for the beaches.
Your tourist money goes to support a communist dictator scumbag.
Which is the good government I should give my travel money to? I dare you to say America. Maybe Sweden? I'll go to Sweden everytually, don't sweat it.
I imagine this trip would be more difficult for me, since I'm an American and I think our government restricts travel to that country. (Although I'm not up on our current policy toward Cuba, much less Cuba's policy toward us.)
You would have to fly to another country first, and then depart for Cuba (and vice versa on the return trip). Then make sure that customs doesn't stamp your passport (which they do on request), otherwise you would be fined when an official sees it. I think it's like $5000. Don't buy a t-shirt.
Did that play a part somehow in your decision making process? See, this is what I was interested in finding out.
You get on a plane and fly for 3 hours -- less time than it takes to fly to some parts of my own country -- and when you land it's tropical, it's communist, it's a dictatorship, there is no advertising, no American products, and they speak another language. It's like you went to another planet, and watched Monster in Law on the way.
