Even More Complaints
The game is truly great in several senses, while hazy in several others....... 1) GOD DAMN LOADING TIMES.........................................not that they're especially long, but they're not as short as a PS2 processor could potentially load them, I think...not to mention that, with the game's pure speed, it's often extremely frustrating to sit still for 30 seconds - a minute waiting for the map to come up. 2) Face-Offs: NEVER CRASH IN A FACE OFF, EVER. If you crash and fail in the Aftertouch (crash bullet time), your opponent gains about 7 - 13 seconds on you (typically) while you fucking sit there for a few seconds after skidding to a stop. However if you crash your opponent it takes him maybe 2 seconds to respawn. 3) Detail?: This is the "hazy" I'm talkin about. Your cars have at least 4 or 5 categories (Coupe, Muscle, Sports, Heavy Duty, Other), which are assigned, each with 2 stats: Top speed and weight. No mention of acceleration, handling, or fucking anything else, just you and your guesses on which is better out of 2 cars with the same ratio of speed/weight (i.e. EVERY SPORTS CAR). Also lack of map/radar is annoying as hell. Personally I thoroughly enjoy NFS:U's concept of controlling every aspect of your car, which this game utterly lacks, as well as pretty much every other aspect of that particular game, which overshadows the racing points of this one's (though it is still damn good in itself)...in fact the entire game could be deemed obsolete by adding crashes, crash time, and crash modes to the NFS:U series, in my opinion at least.
