Re: I'm guessing this took place at EB?

I love ya, Fabsy, I do and then you go and have to open your mouth. I know, I know, it sucks that in your agoraphobic little jaunts into 'outer space' there exists the salesman that actually tries to SELL you on something. It isn't like they're tracked on their pre-sales or anything. In the ideal world EB would be run by eunuch mutes whom would merely clerk the product. But it's not and they've a bottom line. If someone getting a wee bit more aggressive in their sales than the checkout at a groccery store offends thee, stick to online sales you uproarous pussy.
Yeah, but EB takes it to a whole new level with the upselling. You'll see a kid and his mom wait in line for 20 minutes to buy a used copy of Mario World for GBA, and this will happen: Clerk: "Is that it for you?" Mom: "Yeah." Clerk: "Do you want the strategy guide for this?" Kid: "Um... no?" Clerk: "How about an extra memory cart? You know you can't save your games without one." Kid: "It's for GBA." Clerk: "Do you want to buy insurance for the game? I mean, this IS a used game, after all. Insurance is only $3 and if ANYTHING goes wrong with it you can bring it back here and get a new one no questions asked! [game itself is only $5 - INC] Mom: "Don't you check the used games before you sell them?" Clerk: "Well, yeah..." Mom: "And if it doesn't work, we can bring it back for a refund without insurance, right?" Clerk: "Yeah, but not if you step on it and break it yourself." Mom: "No, thanks." Clerk: "Okay, we're running a special this week on gaming magazines. If you bought these on newsstands they would run you about $45 a year, but you can get them here for $15 for a year's subscription." Mom: "I don't think so, but thanks." Clerk: "No, you don't have to sign up, just check off here which two magazines you'd like." Mom: "No, thanks. We don't want any magazines." INC, at the end of the line: "HOLY SHIT, DUDE! Is there a chance in hell we might all get out of here tonight?" Clerk: "Will you be paying with a credit card or cash?" Mom: "A debit card." Clerk: "Okay, that'll take a few minutes..." I wish I was exaggerating, but this exact scenario has been observed by ME and MY FRIENDS countless times at our local EB. The line is always enormous and there is only ever one guy working the registers and asking EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER these exact same questions. It's fucking ridiculous, it has nothing to do with being salesman and everything to do with running a shitty business.
