I suppose some people will always want to feel like they're good at their job, and so they feel a need to go beyond their actual duty, which is taking my money and shutting the hell up. About 90% of the time they don't even ask for an explanation and understand that you've said the secret word for 'Fuck off, junior, I'm not giving you my phone number'.
