Motherfucking News? Gamerasutra? Zionist Media Conspiracy? So part of my new job is to help out with any big projects that any part of the company gets involved in, and they buy on average 1 online game company a week since I started. I come in to work last Tuesday and my immediate supervisor says "you are getting on a plane to LA now." First time off the East Coast, first time on a plane in 10 years. Straight to Hollywood to help with this gaming tournament/game show thing called 'w3g'. I did everything I could to stay off camera but had to spend a lot of time coaxing the network into functioning. There was a Celebrity Charity thing hosted by Chuck Woolery where they played Lingo, so we had to teach some D-Listers how to use a mouse. http://www.tmz.com/2006/09/13/brady-bunch-boys-back-in-action/ The tournament was for $1M and the finalists were fucking incredible Bejeweled players. Unlike the stereotype, most of the best gamers in this tournament were female. They call them 'casual games' because the games are timed so they never last longer than 6 minutes. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6157427.html The whole thing will be on GSN later on I guess. Standing around while they were filming was really boring so I spent a lot of time watching the talent outside. The tournament itself was intense at the end because the finalists were so closely matched, they had to play a number of tiebreakers to determine a winner. I'm still trying to convince the company to use Chromatron, because I'm getting a little bored with Bejeweled2. Luxor's the better game on our site at this point, the tournament version was called Zuma. /jeep/
