Re: CGW Comes Out United For Its Doom3 Review.

Also, the new ish has an interview with the iD guys, who state for the record they were deliberately making a Resident Evil-type survival horror game when they made Doom 3. They just forgot to tell, you know, everyone.
This is very stupid of them -- they created the best haunted house simulator in gaming and they should be proud of it. Every Resident Evil game I have ever played has been vastly inferior to Doom III, and not just because of the controls scheme (although mostly because of the control scheme). That being said, it's still no more than four stars outta five. What a mess for CGW. I liked Doom III, but I recognize that my opinion was in the minority. I also played it for no more than two hours a night well after the sun went down in a completely dark room on a television set, done this way to specifically freak myself out. It sounds like I had something similar to Gladstone's setup, except that Carmack wasn't over my shoulder going HURM AREN'T YOU ENJOYING - HURMMM - THIS!!! while I played it. CGW is very willing to trash non-A+ releases as any gaming rag should be, but with the nuzzling and guzzling of Doom III, Black and White and MOO3 they've proven that they won't offend big releases with enough hype. Hey, I made my 50th "The Gaming Magazine Industry is A Complete Waste of Time" post. I'm gonna head on over to AMFV and pick myself out something saucy as a "reward." Please pardon any forthcoming typos as the keys gradually unstick themselves. the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey!
