this is very neat but it feels too generic for me
I like a game with more character--i.e., one in which not everything feels like it was randomly generated. Warning Forever is impressively fun for such a one-trick game design but a few aspects of it become annoying to me and there is no avoiding them since every fight has the same basic components. It's hard to aim well with that D-key mechanism while also dodging; I'd rather do it Crimsonland-style with the mouse, or Smash TV-style with a second set of arrow keys (even accepting the limitation to cardinal directions). And it angers me that my efforts to destroy a ship's weapons often actually make the ship more powerful, by causing arbitrary green components to begin belching swaths of gray twin-shots from invisible portals. If those shots weren't quite so all-encompassing, or even if the portals were merely made visible, I'd be a lot more satisfied with this mechanic. My favorite of these games is still Tumiki Fighters.
