To that end, I can assure you that a guy cheering for his Toronto-based baseball team, like me, would love nothing else to see New York bombed. Not in a World Trade Center kind of way, but in a way where a dirty bomb goes off at Yankee stadium. After all, that place is filled with Yankee fans. I'm not saying I want there to be a whole lot of casualities... whatever the reverse of a neutron bomb is, is fine with me.
You should also point out that you don't even live close to Toronto, and your city now has a local team that you don't root for, which should really blow the mind of a (non-European [see below]) foreigner. It's this sort of freedom of thought that unbridled capitalism affords a truly free populace. While it would be nice to tie American sports franchises to capitalism and 1776 to really annoy people across the sea, Europe already has the UEFA Champions League, unfortunately, so this point is moot. When the united colours of Liverpool FC takes the field, all the Liverpudlians in the stands still get pretty excited. So really this is just the complaint of a guy on a tiny isolated island who's confused about the world.
