Too Human demo for Xbox 360
It's pretty good! I would describe the game as a fully 3D actiony Diablo 2. The left thumbstick moves while the right stick is for HACKAN and SLASHAN. You can initiate a few different combos depending on how you use the two sticks, but there isn't really a ton of depth in the attacks. Mostly, it's point both sticks towards the enemy you want to attack and watch your guy slide over and cut him up. You've also got guns that are assigned to the triggers, a nice little area attack that's tied to a combo meter you build up by killing enemies with the right stick, an evade button, and a secondary attack that is defined by what you decide to spec your skill points into. Like Diablo 2, you find all sorts of new weapons and armors with various strengths and enhancements, both by killing enemies and given to you as treasure you run across. There are also runes you find that can be attached to your weapons and armor, which further power them up. You also earn skill points as you level up, which you spec into various subattacks, chances to do additional damage in certain areas, and enhanced attacks. There's also "Bounty," which is like a currency used to both respec your skill point allotment as well as purchase weapon/armor upgrades. If you die, there's basically no penalty. A Valkyrie comes to take your body to Valhalla, and then you reappear at the last checkpoint with full health and all the previous enemies still dead, so all you have to do is run back to where you died. This will certainly piss off a lot of people who think that hard games = fun games, but as someone who once had to cheese a Big Daddy to death via Vita-Chamber in BioShock because I was out of EVE, I don't mind it in the least. From the demo, it looks fairly well polished, and the menu interface actually doesn't get in the way when you want to know what a new skill will do or if a certain weapon is better or worse than another. The online coop, assuming that it actually works as intended, will be the big selling point. Honestly, it looks like it'll be the best online coop game since Crackdown. My one complaint is that the demo gives you no guidance whatsoever on changing weapons, armor, etc. until you actually open up the menu and start playing with it. It's easy to figure out, but if you don't know it's there I can easily see (dumb) people pulling a Takahashi and trying to go through the entire game with the starting weapons and armor. Verdict: positive. I heartily encourage everyone to download the demo and give it a spin. I had no interest in this game until I played the demo, and now I plan to pick it up on release week. Hopefully one of you continental faggots will do the same and be up late enough to coop it with me online.
