'New video card' gaming bonanza!
STARRING:
Me, and my brand-new middle-of-the-line Radeon 9800Pro 256MB.
FEATURING:
Half-Life 2 for $40, Max Payne 2 for $20, Deus Ex: Invisible War for $9, and thus far the first two levels of Far Cry for $15
NOT FEATURED:
NOLF 2 for $10, sitting on shelf awaiting installation
SUMMARY:
Every one of these games is excellent. DX:IW is entertaining for the entire ten hours of gameplay, Max Payne 2 was great (and as a surpise bonus: is replayable!), Far Cry is just awesome and pretty. Half-Life 2 is everything you've heard about, except for all the negative aspects, except for that one problem with the installer and the "CD in drive"+Steam idiocy for us retail buyers, and the marginally smaller "just Steam" installer woes.
CONCLUSION:
I'm a big winner.
BONUS MULTIPLAYER CONTENT:
My CS scores improved dramatically! Online multiplayer is really, honestly all about your ping and your system. If either one or the other is holding you down, you will lose out. I don't even pretend CS is fair--it isn't. ALSO: Enemy Territory is fun.
PROOF:
