- and I should point out that she frequently gives me bad information about things, but this seems very plausible - the original legends in the Old Testament didn't even have numbers associated with lengths of time, just a bunch of Aramaic words for "a long ass time." As in "Moses wandered in the desert for a long ass time."

When the Big Scary Religion Conspiracy Conference convened in the 300s or whatever, they used the closest translation they could, which was "40." So, Moses wandered in the desert for 40 years, instead of "many years." So if Methuselah lived to be, say "a generation many times over" thats... 20 years times 40!? That dude lived to be 800!

She's uncovered a lot of interesting tidbits like that one. Dunno what she's basing her information on but it sounds plausible to me.
