He told people another month and a half at the con - not all of the delays are strictly because of the film. You get a coin in the fine tradition of the Zorkmid with his package, so he's affected by anything the mint does. (I was in the expo near a booth selling Genesis games and the guy was saying what forms of payment he would take and going down the list said, "... and zorkmids." This is like the all-time geek setup for people with bad video cards. It may be another 30 years before those two events collide. And did I have any text game scrip? Was I johnny on the spot? Of course not, I prefer games with graphics, psh.) I loved the PAX cut, but it was obvious it was short because you can't have three discs of material there at PAX in person - for instance, the movie did not mention Cornerstone*, the DB package Infocom was working on while making games. I kind of regret not having a video camera at the show. Not only to be the first person to bootleg the film (FINALLY I JOIN 0-DAY) but it was the greatest assembly of text game people in the world and I could have done something like ask everyone for one or two sentences on Cornerstone or Fooblitzky or whatever and cut a Youtube vid. Meanwhile, I brought my useless laptop which couldn't hold a charge. I need to get a handheld vido camera that shoots in HD and is thin and light but mostly thin. I don't even know where to start! ICJ * I can't remember if it's mentioned or not, now that I think about it. It MAY be mentioned as one of the things that contributed to Infocom's demise. Jason said there's definitely a section on it in the main film and I was going nootropic-free that week so do not trust my memory. I don't. |
