If you're at all worried that Eidos Montreal's Deus Ex: Human Revolution is going to be more action than substance, this news from VideoGamer should help to convince you otherwise. For some perspective, Mass Effect 2 featured 31,000 lines of dialogue:

"The voice recording, with all the characters we have in the game, is just amazing," producer David Anfossi told VideoGamer.com at E3. "We have more than... I think it's more than 200,000 lines."
The producer obviously misspoke. Either he's off by an order of magnitude, or he's counting each individual word as a line of dialogue - Mass Effect 2 had 450,000 words, so 200,000 in this case sounds about right (watch for precisely ZERO video games journalists to make this intuitive leap). Story over, you can all go home now 8(
PS: Hey, remember when Fallout 3 was going to have over 200 endings? |
