| of course the problem here is the pc version but still, it's a damn shame. what's especially so sad is how many great ideas are here: the entire setting is extremely unique for an rpg, the action and shooting elements are on the right track, actual decision making, good voice acting for npcs, customizable weapons and special abilities for combat and stealth. and then I fucking slide down a ladder and through the floor into a vast empty nothingness, get stuck on architecture, get spotted from outside my own weapons range by fucking machine gunners while I'm loaded fully into stealth skills, etc. the main character's voice acting is the worst in the game
I wish I could just say "great job kotor team, you delivered another great rpg," but I can't. it's on the cusp of greatness, especially with a pc release that could have had some delicious mouse/keyboard shootan controls, but then they go and buttfuck everything else. on top of all that they put all your interesting intelligence and personal dossiers for conversation rep gains as well as maps and fuckin weapon info and shit into your pda. guess which button activates your pda in game? wrong, the answer is "there isn't one." all the npcs have various little quirks that you need to manipulate in order to gain their trust or whatever, but unless you are about to exit your safehouse you can't fucking read any of it. your first real OPERATION let's you choose between 3 different missions, but for some reason they are all hard as dick. it's hard to really get sucked into the game as a stealth OPERATOR with silenced pistols when you can't tell if an enemy can see or hear you. |
