Highlights of my visit so farby laudablepuss 02/07/2011, 3:38pm PST
*Mom seeing the cafeteria lady scooping out the fresh pre-packaged salad into a bin using her ungloved hands. Cafeteria ladies are the same everywhere I guess.
*A CNA telling me that arteries send blood to the heart. I guess, indirectly?
*One doctor deciding I better have some blood drawn from an artery (this is before the one above). I ask, "same amount of discomfort as drawing from a vein?" Doctor and nurse exchange looks. "Yeah, about the same."
*While I'm Skype-ing with my brother in Perth, a CNA comes in, takes my vitals etcetera, then suddenly notices the microphone. OH WHATS THAT? (It's a little stick thing, nothing interesting but marginally better than the built-in one). No mention of the video-phone from the future that it's hooked to, I'm not sure she realized it wasn't just a picture.
*On the subject of CNAs, there's one that smells exactly like cigarette smoke and instantly causes the room to smell the same. Short, overweight, wheezing, she's basically cancer with legs. Yeesh.
*Kitchen doing the thing I mentioned above 3 more times, including one occasion where they sent it up, we sent it back, then they sent up the same goddam tray. Or one that looked exactly like it anyway. Good news is, with the wbc count up, we don't have to worry about them trying to kill the me. Kitchen management continues to worry about the staff trying to kill genuinely neutropenic patients, however. "We're trying to make them understand that it's really important."
