GCB2 is astounding. A guy decides to make an absurdly complex game, give it out for free, but instead of stubbornly standing by the world's worst user interface, he delivers it with the best user interface the genre has ever seen.
Also, attention to detail?? You can move a helicopter onto a helipad, pop open the 3D view, zoom in on a ship, and there's a little 3D helicopter on the pad, rotors whipping around, ready to go. This, and things like it, I would expect from a full-priced title. I would be pleasantly surprised to see it in a discount product.
To see it in a home-brewed piece of freeware, in beta? Wow.
It truly is best in class, right now, and all of its competition costs money. (To be fair, all of its competition is also at least ten years old...)
