Some initial thoughts by Arbit 07/11/2011, 2:40pm PDT I still can't get over how horrible the animation is in these games. I don't remember everyone's head popping off at the drop of a hat. I guess I can handle heads exploding from a 9mm round, but heads popping off like LEGO men is highly stupid looking. Skipped the tutorial. The first quest is a classic starter quest: someone is being hunted by criminals, you find them first, and it's up to you to rescue them heroically or execute them evilly. It’s the ultimate in lazy MORAL CHOICE TIME quests and I must have played ten thousand iterations of it since KotOR. Gunplay seems better. In Fallout 3, single shot weapons basically could not used without the benefit of VATS because people would juke around in total defiance of inertia and rational human thought, whereas here it seems people follow semi-predictable paths and even occasionally stop. Hardcore mode isn’t very hardcore. Ammo has weight, but 100+ rounds of 10mm ammo weighs a couple of… weight units and I’m still capable of hauling around 10+ pistols and rifles plus a whole heap of miscellaneous clothing, armor, and junk. You need to eat and drink, but again you are capable of carrying herculean amounts of shit so it really doesn’t matter (this is with a strength score of 4 or 5). The biggest challenge food and drink pose is when you sleep or quick travel for 8+ hours you come to with a raging hunger/thirst. So far, I'd say if you thought FO3 was merely OK, this isn't going to float your boat either.
