Hi can I have some advice please. I want an expensive piece of equipment to read all my pirated pdf books on.
- Handles pdf and hopefully also djvu nicely. By nicely I mean - scroll, pan, can change background/text default colors. I know there are some android pdf apps that allow highlighting/sticky notes, so that is also nice. Should be able to have multiple files open at once.
- Screen can be manually dimmed or brightened. ambient light sensors are nice but much nicer is manual control.
- Handles video files well. Typical use cases: bullshit fan-ripped anime in h264 with multiple language and subtitle tracks; 2GB DVD rips of movies with external (.srt) subtitles that may not have a matching filename, dated xvid encodes of Black Books, actual DVD .iso and/or ripped files.
- Won't freak out about Russian/Japanese/Korean reading or input. idek is this even an issue any more? all I know is I had to call a sysadmin to get phonetic foreign-language keyboards installed on my work computer and that was annoying.
- Whatever the titanium-clad glass is on my Droid's screen, that thing has tumbled down the stairs multiple times without a chip or fracture. I want that on the tablet.
- Actually I don't care about wi-fi; if it's there, great, if not, also great. Same with 3G; I definitely wouldn't pay any extra to get it.
- Either nice USB or nice cloud behavior. I keep most of my current reading in a dropbox folder, so being able to sync that across PC/laptop/tablet would be golden.
- Budget: $500-600 I guess.
I'm mooooostly already sold on a Galaxy Tab despite the shitty USB situation, but I figured I'd ask first. |
