Can you remember the last review of anything you read that didn't preface every negative point with apologetic tip toeing?

Even Red Letter Media is falling prey to this. Way too many nice things said about Crystal Skull (a chase through suburban America seen as a positive in a franchise about exotic escapism?), and half of every Half in the Bag review is taken up by apologetic disclaimers.

Has there been any worse development in contemporary criticism than the term "haters"? Whether it's praise for Revenge of the Sith because there was a space battle or defending Battlefield 3's forcing you to work for a complete game, we've become so used to being served shit that it upsets people when someone asks for real food.

Link. I've been told repeatedly that I am to "leave my brain at home and be entertained", as if I'm a super genius and wanting a movie to make sense half the time is an absurd thing to hope for. I fully expect that the next movie, which will be out in 2013 supposedly, will cause many more people to realize that the franchise is dead, the way that Attack of the Clones caused a slow dawning of comprehension in me and others who thought maybe The Phantom Menace wasn't as bad as it seemed.
