I've been thinking, there's some obvious forum trolls and threadshitters that few people like, but the forum software has such a powerful ignore, that ignoring them becomes a hassle as things get confusing when someone you haven't ignored interacts with someone you did ignore.
Would it be worth keeping a collected list of widely accepted ignores so that we can improve the experience for all who use the boards? If a large enough group of active users can agree by concensus that certain individuals should be ignored, then we can proactively entice others to ignore these same people in the interest of dissuading the lesser element.
Ideally, this would work in three steps. First, someone would suggest someone worth ignoring, give arguments and examples of why they should be ignored. Second, others could argue against the ignore, to counterbalance the system. Third, we'd have a dedicated thread where people who've been added to the accepted ignore list can go to plead their case, ask to be removed, suggest how they've changed, etc. That way we could just have one place where we show ignored posts.
Thoughts?
