the problem isn't that they're "people" it's that they're "games critics" who are not now nor have they ever performed any kind of consumer reporting function, which is why I was looking at those giant bomb videos as the maybe first useful thing the field has ever really found that could work consistently. like no matter how much of a dipshit the critic is it's going to be hard to show people 30 minutes of a game without tipping them off that it sucks.
basically the bottom of the journalism barrel looks like
3. sports writers
2. games journalists
1. political reporters
they're out there fracking their way down though the shale of shit coverage and total lack of integrty to jockey for that last spot but mostly political journalists hold it because their efforts/failures ostensibly "matter" |
