Great if you like romantic comedies, but how low is the bar if that's what passes as a nuanced character study? Critics and forums were talking about it in the same breath as Raging Bull. A movie forfeits its chance at being smart the instant it casts John Lithgow. They should have just gone all out and had him move in with the apes flinging poo all day.

If we go by relative scale, it turns out zealot fans were right and maybe The Matrix really was deep meaningful genius.
