| 1. There are no "starlanes" you have to stick to -- the galaxy is a grid and you can go to any square on the grid, meeting fleets mid-course, etc.
2. You actually CAN go anywhere, in my experience, but unless you are within shouting distance of a friendly system, you will be out of supply and run out of bullets and various other bad effects. I don't quite have the supply system down, but that appears to be the case. |
