50% off sale, I picked it up. Bleeeeeeh...

The graphics are incredibly uninspired. Every unit is a chunky rectangle and it's very easy to mistake one unit for another if you don't lean in and squint. Alternately, you can go to maximum zoom and turn units into symbols ala. Supreme Commander, but even the symbols are hard to tell apart. Compare that to Massive Assault where every single future tank unit is easily recognizable and distinct.

The music is blah.

The interface is very awkward and you'll oftentimes move a unit by accident. Since this is a fog of war game, moves can't be taken back.

At least this is a modern TBS where you can fire then move!

The plot is horribly melodramatic. 5 pages of conversation trees about how nervous your soldiers are just to get a mission tip that there's a way around an upcoming choke point.

The AI is so heavily scripted you can break it, at least in the campaign. In the first mission you have AI forces covering a pair of long bridges to an island with their HQ and repair facilities. The game gives you a pair of hovercrafts to flank with a beach landing. I landed 3 infantry and carefully skirted their firing arcs to try and rush capture their buildings and split their forces in two once they noticed my maneuver and panicked. The AI didn't even budge, even when I captured their HQ. So I then spent dozens of rounds hovercraft-transporting all my light units 2-at-a-time to the beach until they had an army staring up their ass. Still no response. Then I moved an artillery piece in range of one of their units. Finally the AI woke up and was smooshed in one of the most disappointing pincer maneuvers in videogame history. You'd think over 6 months the developers would have caught that one.

Hell no for the asking price of $30, can't even recommend for $15.

If you want a sci-fi tactical turn based strategy game with a Dune-like story, try War on Folvos for a measly $7. The visuals are aged, but at least you can tell the units apart.
