Speaking of repetition, music and mech combat, RahXephon was not bad. I would say 'very good' but I haven't been able to call any anime better than 'not bad' since they started selling seasons in boxes of six or seven DVDs instead of three or four. The seven disc RahXephon series is "very good" only if you don't have to pay $200 for it.

Looks like you can preorder the whole series on amazon for $62.99, in that case it's "worth seeing."
