| I thought we’d try an experiment. The Star Ruler 2 guys are good dudes. Why not see what the site looks like with an “ad”? If it causes people to click and check out their game, then cool.
No money has changed hands or anything. I was curious as to what the site would look like with a logo there. Would it be intrusive? Annoying? Triggering??! The ultimate goal, of course, is to eventually take a large payment to skin the entire site as Kane & Lynch and then have Eidos try to get Jerry fired when he negatively reviews the game. I mean, if the game sucks. It might be good. Gaming does not need my constant negativity. But in all seriousness, let me tell you the thing I have never understood about advertising. There are sites that get more views than Caltrops. However, there are not many sites that have more literate, intelligent users that like to support independent games. There’s a few but not many. I’d personally rather reach the 500 people that come here every day than the 10,000 smug assholes at SA. I’d rather buy a banner ad at shittywebbomics when I finish my next game than something through Google or Facebook that everyone ignores. But yeah, I wanted to see what it would be like to have a logo there for a few days. Maybe we’ll try it with Retrobooster if the Retrobooster guy doesn’t mind next month. It doesn’t look terrible when I load the site on my phone. And people leave the main forum screen to dive into posts, so it’s not displaying every single time someone tries to read the site. the dark and gritty…Ice Cream Jonsey! |
