why are so many of them from south africa? Getting covered in AIDS or being tiger-mauled to death is all they're going to get from their fun knife hobby.

I've never been a fan of serrated blades and have found them inferior in my "informal" testing at home. I don't believe they will do anything that a properly sharpened strraight edge will do.

OH i get it now, informal testing, *WINK* Unless he's not talking about stabbing people to test his serrated/straight edge hypothesis, then i'm confused again.

I have seen the same problem. In part it is due to the small serrations that the Cold Steel knifes have and that the steel is not as hard as it should be for serrations so small and thin. I have seen the brake after a friend stabed a soda can.

on the other hand, these knife faggots are probably all like this guy, this one just admits "friend stabbed a can" instead of "mysterious informal knife testing at home." Amusing mental image of crazy knife freaks - destroyed :(

That said, I carry mostly plain edge blades, but do have a few combo edge blades I carry. The trick with the plain edge is to keep it sharp or learn to cut well.

Good job testing your blade. You are going to be the one to use it to defend yourself so you need to feel comfortable with your blade. You should also test your blade on other surfaces (trees, etc) because in the heat of battle you need to know that it is not going to bend or snap on a bone, teeth, belt buckle, etc.

i used to throw ninja stars at trees, but have since stopped. I stopped because you had to throw them really hard to get them to stick and usually ended up losing them, but mostly because i outgrow being retarded enough to think it was cool. And whats this guy suppose to practice on to test his knifes teeth/belt buckle durability other than someones face and crotch. Way to incite the crazies

At one of our seminars a guy showed us a CRKT he had just purchased and Mark (my hubby) tested the blade which resulted in 16 stitches across the back of his hand. When shock testing, make sure that you do it in a safe manner.
