Easiest is the CYOA thing, it can require no programming whatsoever. But that's the point of it. Then text adventures. Although you're using an object oriented programming language, not having to keep track of where stuff is on the screen is easier than the alternatives.

I doubt the WadjetEye people are using Adventure Game Studio, but this makes things pretty easy. I don't enjoy scanning pixels for hot spots, but a lot of people grew up with those kind of games and like them in spite of their flaws, it seems.
