What's more, you can set the game to give you rewinds if you're worried about getting fucked by the RNG's creating a tricky level layout.
The arbitrary level layouts drive me nuts. I wish they had at least a few clever and well-designed levels by actual game designers. Instead, you could have the elevator almost next door to your entry or 18 rooms away that you didn't see because the door in the corner was hidden by the layout of the room. Procedural levels are fine for straightforward 2D scrollers or to generate sky in E:D or broken colonies in DF but the shortcomings really shine through in more complex puzzle games like this. |
