The Occultist seems like a ridiculously better healer/support than the plague doctor and nun(?).


The Plague Doctor is primarily an offensive character with the nastiest Blight DOTs (4 dmg/round that accumulates). What's more, Plague Doctors have campfire skills that can remove diseases for free.

The Occultist vs the Vestal is one of risk vs dependability. Same stress-wise with Houndmaster vs Jester.

Abominations suck. Besides severely limiting your hero selection, they cause stress for other party members right out of the gate. Their beast mode damage isn't that much better to make up for it.


I don't have a lot of experience with my Abominations so far, the one big advantage I'd say they have is full access to all six of their skills at all times, making them very versatile. Pair them with a Jester to heal the stress damage.
