This is Nina Turner—I'm a former state senator from Ohio and I've been an active supporter of Bernie Sanders. I’ve criss-crossed the country, listening to the issues important to all of the people in this nation, and I've seen how Senator Sanders’ political revolution has awakened us all.

Right now, we’re fighting for the most progressive platform the Democratic National Committee has ever seen. The draft platform is moving in the right direction but we’ve still got more to push for. And with your help, we can make the political revolution that Sen. Sanders continues to fight for a reality.

The Democratic Party should adopt a bold, progressive platform at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia—including opposition to the disastrous Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal.

This week the DNC platform draft will be presented to the entire committee in Orlando and it’s essential that our voices be heard.

Here’s what we have in the draft DNC platform: a living wage, Social Security expansion, abolishment of the death penalty, Wall Street reform and a progressive tax system in which the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. We’re on our way, folks, but there is more we need to champion.

The platform must have language opposing the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). The TPP doesn’t work for my home state of Ohio or anywhere in this country. We want to rebuild our blue collar workforce and assure a viable future for all Americans. And the platform needs to call for universal health care, free public higher education, an end to fracking, and a carbon tax to address climate change.
