I used to be a voracious reader until real life intruded a few years ago. I then switched to mostly magazine and blog articles, trying to favor longform ones. Since so much of the news is junk and election season is now winding down (anything that could potentially change my vote, I'll hear about through friends or at work) I'm trying to improve my information diet by cutting out the news entirely, dropping the number of subreddits I browse, unsubscribing from almost all email updates, killing off Twitter, and updating my library card. I recently had some major changes in my career which helps a lot with this. But damn. The internet really has shortened my attention span. I started with Postman's Amusing Ourselves to Death which is freakishly prescient.
