A canonical list of CRPGs on Steam, GoG and IGS by Ice Cream Jonsey 08/10/2016, 9:44pm PDT
Steam's categorization abilities is really poor. I don't quite understand why I can't go into my Library and sort by the same things that I can sort the store for. Three-quarters of the games that I have I couldn't tell you their genre. And there's no way to check. :(

So let's make a list, and start off with CRPGs. I guess the first kind of list that I want to make is one of CRPGs "like Baldur's Gate." That is the one genre that I'd like to play a game in again. I would categorize the distinct elements of this kind of game as this:

- At least 4 members of a party, preferably at least 6
- You can see the dudes on the screen. (Not necessarily at all times -- Wasteland 2 counts.)
- Your characters can have distinct capabilities, powers, abilities and they all look different
- Turn-based combat

I'm avoiding blobber CRPGs like Bard's Tale and Wizardry for now. That will be a future list.

Off the top of my head, these games would count for what I've described above:

Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate II
Wasteland II
Shadowrun Returns
Shadowrun: Dragonfall
Shadowrun: Hong Kong
Fallout
Fallout 2
Serpent in the Staglands
Dead State
AntharioN

(Underrail has just the one character, I think? Not sure about Lords of Xulima.)
