It's a very specific definition of turn-based that includes Baldur's Gate. by Dream Cast 08/10/2016, 10:38pm PDT
I suppose each individual character is operating on their own six-second turn cycle, even though those cycles don't necessarily sync up. Or do they? I admit, I never really understood how Baldur's Gate's weapon speed factors (sort of a 2E precursor to initiative?) translated to an environment where everybody was crossing distance and loosing arrows in real time - as a delay before the first attack? Whatever, the precise details don't matter. I know exactly the sort of game you're talking about, which is the whole point of genres in the first place.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura (RT/TB toggle, one PC plus NPCs)
Icewind Dale (RTwP, six PCs)
Icewind Dale II (RTwP, six PCs)
Planescape: Torment (RTwP, one PC plus NPCs)
Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor (TB, four PCs)
The Temple of Elemental Evil (TB, five PCs plus NPCs)
