"Anonymous" and "not bylined" are not the same thing. Nor is a byline the primary differentiator between an editorial and an op-ed - if it were, you wouldn't need to qualify yourself with "usually," which I gather from your fucking wikipedia citations means "usually, in my not-reading of the Jewspaper of Hiding Under the Floorboards."
What does Polygon think? Ben Kuchera believes the editorials he writes are op-eds because they express his op-inion. Given that he's the editor in chief of Polygon, I suppose that's the final word on the matter. How can you have op-eds without editorials? By editorial fiat, apparently. This is what happens when you let people redefine words to suit their agendas, whether that's you not looking dumb or Ben not looking unethical. Who made me the word police? Who put these lights and siren on my wheelchair? It's dirty work, but somebody's got to do it.
