Not that I wouldn't trust Big Tech to dick the little guy over for a nickel, but in this case Tom just said: "Here's my affiliate link, how about bookmarking amazon.com/[qt3-link] and using that for all your purchases? 'Cause then I get a cut, and you get shit you wanted from Amazon anyways, win win!" And he wasn't even running ads from Amazon anymore. So a Broken Forumite or a still bitter Deus Ex fan probably noticed and called it in, or Amazon started actually checking up on their affiliates.
You could argue with Amazon's logic, but they state in their terms that sharing the affiliate link and encouraging people to use it is no bueno.
And of fucking course, Qt3 is a place where they wring their hands that PewPewDie(a Swede) didn't read FTC regs, and cheer when Jim Sterling gets some nobody dev nuked from Steam for breaking Valve's rules. Oh, and some BS involving Counter Strike and gambling that the Game Press and GG treated like it was the Bernie Madoff of gaming, that was supposedly a big deal too. |
